Every time i try to download something on my mac, the text edit app appears with a bunch of random symbols?

-after the random symbols appear, i end up not being able to download what i wanted :(Try actually saving the file to local harddrive rather than trying to open file with default program - text editor in this case. It sounds like your browser is doing this by default. You should change that.

This is a browser specific question not OS, I think you'll find getting a "PC" by which I assume you mean Windows, wont solve the problem.Yeah, sounds like a browser issue. If Chrome will work a Mac, try that. Your description sounds like a popup info window and I would think it wants your agreement to abide by some terms. The browser is set to the wrong character set and thus the random symbols. That's my guess anyway.
