Troubleshooting: Static Home page on WordPress?

-I'm setting up a new WP-powered site using the Intrepidity WP Theme. I followed this guide to setup a static front/home page (http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_St鈥?/a> As this guide predicts, I now have 2 "home" links on my navigation bar.



Although the guide outlines the remedy, I am unable to follow as I am not familiar with PHP.



Can anyone please help me with a step-by step guide on how to troubleshoot this issue, please?
